Vanilla Holidays

argentina argentina

Argentina is big, beautiful and unbelievably glamorous. Although distances are vast, Argentina's attractions are superbly accessible with good roads and a network of regional airports.

Holidays in Argentina begin in Buenos Aires, the 'Paris of Latin America' with open-air cafés spilling onto wide avenues and elegant boulevards lulled by the romantic sounds of the Tango - it is the perfect setting for a honeymoon in Argentina. With South America's best museums, theatres and art galleries as well as designer boutiques and fashion displays to rival anything in Europe or America - there is no shortage of things to do and see on your Argentina holiday. Make time to take in a proper Tango show, explore the architectural masterpieces, including Eva Peron's grave, in the Recoleta cemetery before visiting the old port, now brightly-painted and buzzing with the city's creative flair. No visit to Buenos Aires would be complete without a tour to La Bocca, where narrow alleyways meander through vibrant coloured houses to the central Bocca Stadium.

Continue your Argentina travel by stepping out of the capital to discover a vast and beautiful country. Towards the Brazilian border the Iguazu Falls thunder in a myriad of waterfalls through a primeval jungle region. In the pampas of the south, football is replaced by polo. Seals and penguins frolic in the wild waters of the South Atlantic, while the west rears up into the mighty Andes, a natural border whose foothills are ideal for hiking and exploring on horseback. To add a spirit of adventure to your Argentina holiday, follow the mountains down across the Patagonian steppes, as snow dusts the peaks amidst beautiful lakes and majestic glaciers and on to Tierra del Fuego, the 'uttermost end of the world'.

Buenos Aires, birthplace of the Tango and 'Paris of Latin America', is a city of contrasts and a city with a diverse and exciting history reflected on every street corner, colonial building and central plaza. The glamour and elegance of its European roots interweave with the flavours, colours and vibrancy of a Latin American essence. Visit Evita's grave, the Sunday flea market, Carlos Gardel's Tango show, La Boca, and enjoy the best shopping, restaurants and cafés in Latin America.

Mendoza

The City of Mendoza, known as "the land of sunshine and wine" is the capital of Cuvo province. Home to Mt Aconcagua and Malbec wines, it is one of the most beautiful cities in Argentina.

Nestled in the foothills of the Andes Mountains, it is a man-made oasis where the Mendoza and Tunuyán Rivers have been channelled into a huge irrigation system, giving life to everything it touches.

The climate in Mendoza is moderate, though its mountains provide a certain degree of aridity. Summer temperatures range between 18-33ºc with very hot days and fresh nights. In the winter, the ski season, the minimum temperatures drop to 3ºc and the maximums hit 16ºc.

Mendoza's museums are full of historical interest, particularly pertaining to the Argentinian hero, San Martin. It has a buzzing café culture and is the starting point for adventures such as skiing, mountaineering and river rafting along the Mendoza River. Not forgetting Mendoza's Wine Route, where visitors are able to sample produce from several local wineries which have made this region world famous.
