Brazil is also one of the greatest eco-destinations on earth. The Amazon is not only the world's longest river, but its basin covers almost half of Brazil. Further south, on the borders of Paraguay and Bolivia is the Pantanal - the world's largest wetland area. Here your holiday in Brazil can provide glimpses of caiman, capybara, jaguar and anacondas, together with brightly coloured parrots and the hyacinth macaw. On the borders of Brazil and Argentina, hear the thunderous roar of Iguaçu Falls. The Brazilian winter is from June to August, with the coldest southern states receiving maximum temperatures of 18°C. In summer (December to February) Rio is hot and humid, but during the rest of the year the average is usually around 25°C. The rainy seasons occur from January to April in the north, April to July in the north-east and November to March in the south-east. The best time to visit the Amazon and the Pantanal is in the dry season. |
