Day 1: Vanilla Moments – Ushguli & Batumi
Early in the morning, we meet at Tbilisi city centre and drive to Natakhtari airdrome to take a flight (app. 1.5h) to mountainous region of Georgia, Svaneti, village Ushguli. Svaneti, the most celebrated and mythological of Georgia’s mountain regions, land of the ‘Golden Fleece’ lies high up in the Greater Caucasus. Local people, Svans are fiercely committed to preserving their traditions. The Symbol of Svan community is the tower. The village Ushguli is believed to be the highest permanently inhabited place in Europe. It lies below Mt. Shkhara (5068m) the highest peak in Georgia and the second highest in Caucasus. Its more than 20 ancient stone towers and the ongoing resilience of its population have led it to be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After an excursion, horseback riding and picnic lunch in Ushguli, we fly to Adjara region, town Batumi, to complete the perfect day watching sunset on the Black Sea beach followed by a luxurious dinner in the restaurant, with the view of the famous dancing fountains. Overnight in Batumi at the hotel. Day 2: Excursion in Batumi Botanical Garden & Gonio fortress (optional) & Departure
In the morning we have optional free time to take a swim in the Black Sea or take an excursion to Batumi Botanical Garden and Gonio fortress. Batumi Botanical Garden, situated on the north of Batumi, along the Black Sea coast, is unique among the gardens of the world. At present, Batumi Botanical Garden occupies 114 ha. From Batumi Botanical Garden we continue journey down toward the Turkish border, where the ancient town of Gonio is situated. Built in the II century BC the town played a vital role as a crossroads between the west and the Caucasus. Archeological excavations still take place in Gonio – and have already unearthed a wealth of gold and other artifacts. In the second half of the day we fly back to Natakhtari and drive to Mtskheta to have a dinner in a local restaurant. After the dinner we drive to Tbilisi city centre. End of the tour. Price includes: - Flight from Natakhtari to Svaneti, Batumi and back to Natakhtari (Total flight duration: app. 4h) on a comfortable Helicopter (MI8).
